The Unstable Tapestry of Human Nature

Image
Our lives are woven with events lying on different parts of the emotional spectrum, just like a tapestry. We may not like the colours of some threads, but when all the threads come together, bringing their own shades, they give the bigger picture - called life – its true meaning. A dominant shade can completely alter the meaning. But you know what’s the interesting part, we change often but always decide what colour thread will continue the weaving. This does not happen to everyone because people tend to look back with regret rather than introspecting and making the correct decisions. We need to take action before the tapestry gets filled with mundane colours. Is it easy? Not at all. The human mind, nay, human nature is so unstable; the life of a human is filled with so intricate layers that one does not even realize and falls into the trap of triviality. His life becomes too toxic that by the end, he finds himself in a void with no escape. The only thing he can do by now to ...

Be like a spring!!

T he journey to success is a path of thorns. Most people tend to fall on the way. This is the reason being successful is a privilege which makes one different from the crowd. The most important thing required to scale the mountain of success is not the determination to achieve it, rather, it is the mental strength to face setbacks and failures. The latter is the most essential thing in my opinion because most of the aspirants start with a ton of determination, but give up eventually owing to failures. They give up because they think that by losing a small battle, they have lost the great war, the pursuit of their dream. But this is not true. The thing is that they do not have the mental strength to face failures. They are not ready to face failures. They just think that if they start their journey with vigour, energy and enthusiasm, they are sure to taste success. What they do not understand is that failing is a part and parcel of the journey. The role of parents, teachers and mentor...

The Word ‘Maa’

The word ‘Maa’ is short in itself but holds very deep significance and emotion in it. It has different versions across India, like Amma, Ammi, Aayi, Mayi and many more. All of them have the same essence attached to them. The word ‘maa’ brings with it the feeling of motherly love and care. A mother’s love is unparalleled. It is rightly said, ‘God could not be everywhere so he made mothers.’ A mother holds a greater position than anyone else. She is responsible to shape a child’s life. In the typical Indian family system, the mother predominantly takes care of the child. She is a child’s first teacher. She acts as his emotional support. From the time of birth to the time when the child becomes self-dependent, the mother encounters continual challenges in raising the child. She takes hardships so that her child is successful in life. She doesn’t ask anything for herself. But the irony is that she stays with us for so long that we start to ignore her hardships. We think this is her duty. W...

Sorry is a word found everywhere

L ast night, I came across a very interesting thought, ‘what does the word ‘sorry’ mean to people nowadays?’ Everywhere I go, everywhere I look, I see people committing a mistake, saying sorry, and repeating it the next moment. Their actions make it evident that they just use the word sorry to make others believe that they feel guilty about committing a mistake; although they do not feel that way. But this was not the case when I was small. In lower classes, where each child was filled with innocence and taught moral values almost every day, the word sorry had a meaning attached to it. The small innocent children genuinely felt bad when they did something wrong or inappropriate. Their sorry had a sense of honesty. But as times have changed, the human race has indulged itself in the rat race, and people have become more and more unemotional, uncaring and uncompassionate. They do not care what effect their actions can have on others. They just make sure that their life is going well; ...

The Journey Within

T he journey within is not an easy one, rather it has its joys and struggles. It is a challenge for it requires us to explore our vulnerabilities. However, today it is a daring task to sit and relax for a few minutes and look deep into ourselves. The rat race of the ‘modern’ society has caught hold of us in such a way that we do not feel the need for self-inspection. The significant thing to do is to solve and solve and solve problems and…just keep solving problems. And if you are not able to produce the correct answer to a question, just get demotivated and question your ability to get into your dream college. Who cares to sit for a while and think “What may I be doing wrong?” This is an unfortunate truth about society that mental health sits at the bottom of the list of priorities for a maximum of teenagers. This may be because their parents also do not pay much heed to their mental health. This has been the norm for a long time. The attitude towards mental health is slowly changing ...
